   Ministry Leader, James Bacon

I've taken a stand on making this ministry the best it can be.  We are a ministry

made up of faithful and dedicated members rich in relationships that matters most.

We serve and support our church and pastor in a variety of ways.  We pride

ourselves in having the right attitude toward God, Ourselves, Brethren and Work.

We grow, we worship, we serve, we laugh, we cry, we learn, and we reach out to

one another.  We reach out to members and visiting families and friends, as well.

If you've been thinking, praying and searching for a church home, a place to belong,

we invite you to visit with us and enjoy our worship experience here at Pleasant Hill

where God abides.  We say again... Welcome!  Welcome! Welcome!  For schedules

and events click on the announcement link.  Board meetings are typically scheduled

on the (4th) fourth Saturday of every month.  If you are seeking spiritual growth

come join us as we seek to provide the opportunity.

 Pleasant Hill Music Department

Christian Education Ministry - A ministry that seeks to teach Scripture through such activities and Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and WORD Alive.

HCJ Impact Award & Scholarship - A prestigious award named after Pastor Harvey Clemons, Jr. to recognize a deserving citizen for community and humanitarian service; a scholarship is presented to graduating high school and college students for their willingness to work in a summer community service project either in the local community or in Africa.

Mission I & Mission II - A ministry for female Bible study, fellowship, bonding and member and non-member visitation.

Mother's Board - A ministry, by appointment, designed to assist in carrying out the two ordinances of the Protestant church; baptism and communion.

The Dance Ministry

The Dance Ministry is always a special treat in worship at Pleasant Hill.  The energy that it contributes to the worship experience is inspirational.  It consists of teens and young adults who have an innate and natural sense of coordination and grace in movement.  They normally minister on special occasions.

L. H. Simpson Ensemble

This group, named after the founder and first pastor of Pleasant Hill is the only unit that offers membership by invitation only.  The group consists of singers who are confident of their ability to sing and worship.  While its repertoire consists of a wide range of music styles, it leans toward contemporary, popular, and original music.

Male Chorus

"Oh that men might praise the Lord!"  This group gives men the opportunity to do just that.  There is a great camaraderie with this group of men, along side other men, using their voices to proclaim the Good News.  They routinely rehearse on selected Saturdays and minister on the 2nd Sunday of each month for morning worship services.  Men of all ages are welcome.

Sanctuary Choir

The Sanctuary Choir is Pleasant Hill's adult choir and is perhaps the busiest group in the ministry.  It serves on two Sunday's a month at morning worship services, rehearses weekly on Wednesday's, and  is the group most likely to represent the church during yearly celebrations or when Pleasant Hill worships with other congregations at home, locally, in the state of Texas, or Nationally.

Overton-Roberts Handbell Ensemble

A popular memory amongst the residents of Fifth Ward in the 1950's was that of Pleasant Hill's chimes.  The person responsible for their consistency was the late Mattie Overton-Roberts.  It was resultantly fitting to name this group after her.  Handbells are an exercise in musical synchronization that results in unique anointing in the temple of God spurred by instrumental praise.  Membership is open to all ages.

Youth Choir

The Youth Choir consists of school-aged children from Elementary School to High School.  They sing contemporary music and music appropriate for their age.  The innocence in their voices is always a refreshing reminder that "a little child shall lead us."  The pinnacle of this group's ministry in the liturgical yearly calendar is the Easter production done in accordance with the Youth Department.

Mission Chorus

These sisters are determined not to be outdone by the Male Chorus and are proving to be worthy of the challenge.  All ladies who can't make a commitment to a weekly rehearsal or a rigorous singing schedule should consider the Mission Chorus.  This choir serves once a quarter on 5th Sundays with rehearsals scheduled two to three weeks prior to that date.  If you can't make a consistent commitment, this is the group for you.

Prayer Ministry - A ministry designed to encourage and implement prayer for the vision and ministry of the church, members, and special prayer needs or

                     concerns of others.

S.E.E.D. (Spreading the Gospel Each and Everyday) Ministry - Designed to facilitate evangelism efforts of PH; provide communication and outreach to incarcerated members, non-members, and their families; and orient new members about their journey with God and the Pleasant Hill Family.

Education Ministry - A ministry designed for adults, young adults, youth, and children, through Worship Service, Sunday School, and Bible study.
